In response to the high-level management skills needed by the industry, Deakin University offers two combined courses in Tourism or Hospitality and Management in conjunction with South West Institute of TAFE at Warrnambool and with Box Hill Institute of TAFE for students in the Melbourne area.
These exciting courses provide students with high-level theoretical and practical grounding in management and the tourism or hospitality industries.
Studies are undertaken concurrently at each institution and graduates will be awarded a Bachelor of Management and an Advanced Diploma of Tourism Management or Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.
Graduates from the Tourism stream may choose to work in areas such as local, national and international tourism operations, event, and conference organisations, local and national government departments, local and international tourism planning, and in development and marketing roles.
Hospitality graduates may pursue a career in national and international resorts, conference centres, local and international tourism planning, development and marketing and major and special event organisation. Careers are also available in planning, research and consultancy.
